Iranian animation ‘The Switchman’ directed by Mehdi Khorramian has won an award at the Rimini Cartoon Club in Italy.

Khorramian’s work, produced at Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) grabbed the Signor Rossi Award of the Italian festival on Sunday.

‘The Switchman’ is about a switchman who has been waiting for his beloved for a long period of time, but it seems that the beloved is only in his dreams.

The Signor Rossi Award is dedicated to animated films produced by students at Italian and foreign animation schools.

DEFC also presented ‘The Servant’ directed by Farnoush Abedi as well as ‘Inflated Head’ co-directed by Rouhollah Saadatmand and Amir-Pouya Afzalipour to the event.

The other Iranian animated works that competed at the Italian festival include ‘Dogbin’ directed by Atousa Ghaffari, ‘Redpoint directed by Motahhareh Ahmadpour, as well as ‘Shakrak, the Hero’ co-directed by Houtan Pourzaki and Naeim Tadayyon.

Born from the experience of ACLI Rimini Art and Entertainment, 33 years ago, Cartoon Club has become one of the most popular festivals in Italy. Its latest edition has scored more than 100,000 audiences in attendance.

The Rimini Cartoon Club is an international film festival of animation cinema and comics that was held in the northern Italian port on July 17-23.
